The news was\u00a0first reported by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.daytondailynews.com\/news\/dayton-news\/seven-osu-employees-received-1m-bonuses-in-2011-1353336.html\">Dayton <em>Daily News<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and subsequently covered by <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theheart.org\/article\/1385087.do\">Heartwire<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Five out of seven bonuses that topped $1 million at OSU went to the electrophysiologists. The football coach and the basketball coach were the recipients of the additional million dollar bonuses. The\u00a0<em>Daily News<\/em> reported that OSU officials said that medical school and athletic department bonuses were &#8220;self-funded and don&#8217;t draw from tax or tuition dollars.&#8221; Lynch told the\u00a0<em>Daily News\u00a0<\/em>that the five electrophysiologists &#8220;were hired five years ago to build a nationally respected program in cardiac electrophysiology.
