Only one other researcher, genomic pioneer\u00a0Eric Lander of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, had more highly-cited papers than Yusuf.<\/p>\n<p>Two of Yusuf&#8217;s most-cited papers tested novel anticoagulants in the setting of atrial fibrillation: the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nejm.org\/doi\/full\/10.1056\/NEJMoa0905561\"> RE-LY trial<\/a>\u00a0with dabigatran\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nejm.org\/doi\/full\/10.1056\/NEJMoa1007432\">AVERROES trial<\/a>\u00a0with apixaban.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a new experience to be called a hottie,\u201d Yusuf joked in an interview with the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thespec.com\/news\/local\/article\/703647--mcmaster-s-salim-yusuf-is-hot-stuff\">Hamilton\u00a0<\/a><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thespec.com\/news\/local\/article\/703647--mcmaster-s-salim-yusuf-is-hot-stuff\">Spectator<\/a>.<\/em>\u201cThis means it has impact on other scientists. It\u2019s nice to know you\u2019re doing something useful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Science Watch<\/em>\u00a0report also included a list of &#8220;red-hot&#8221; research papers published in 2011.
