Earlier this year the FDA\u00a0turned down for the second time the sNDA for the \u00a0general use of rivaroxaban to treat ACS patients.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Both sNDAs were based on the\u00a0\u00a0<a title=\"ATLAS ACS 2-TIMI 51: Rivaroxaban Beneficial in Low-Risk ACS\u00a0Population\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nejm.org\/doi\/full\/10.1056\/NEJMoa1112277\">pivotal ATLAS ACS 2-TIMI 51 trial<\/a>. Initially the trial was widely praised, leading to expectations that rivaroxaban would be the first anticoagulant to receive an ACS-related indication. But the enthusiasm evaporated\u00a0when<a title=\"FDA Advisory Committee Recommends Against ACS Indication for Rivaroxaban\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.nejm.org\/cardioexchange\/news\/fda-advisory-committee-recommends-against-acs-indication-for-rivaroxaban\/\">\u00a0FDA reviewers raised concerns\u00a0<\/a>about the trial and when\u00a0the FDA\u2019s\u00a0Cardiovascular and Renal Drugs Advisory Committee\u00a0<a title=\"FDA Advisory Committee Recommends Against ACS Indication for Rivaroxaban\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.nejm.org\/cardioexchange\/news\/fda-advisory-committee-recommends-against-acs-indication-for-rivaroxaban\/\">voted<\/a>\u00a0against the ACS indication.
