Here is <a title=\"external web page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bmj.com\/content\/347\/bmj.f4533\" target=\"_blank\">a meta-analysis of observational studies <\/a>which also demonstrates that severe hypoglycaemia is associated with an approximate doubling of cardiovascular events in patients with type 2 diabetes. Be very careful when prescribing sulfonylurea drugs and insulin to older diabetics.
