He pursued a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center between his third and fourth years of medical school. His interest in research, academic medicine, and strong clinical training led him to pursue Internal Medicine residency training at the University of Chicago where he currently serves as a chief resident. Akhil plans to pursue a career in academic Cardiology.
