Now THAT&#8217;S a Relief"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>How reassuring to be treated with the following <a href=\"http:\/\/www.asiaone.com\/Health\/News\/Story\/A1Story20111205-314378.html\" target=\"_blank\">news<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>An SMS has been circulating that Pepsi products are contaminated with HIV but Permanis Sandilands Sdn Bhd has clarified that this is a hoax.\u00a0Its marketing vice-president Hemalatha Ragavan said there was no truth to it.\u00a0She urged people not to believe such claims.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.nejm.org\/hiv-id-observations\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2011\/12\/beverages1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2244\" title=\"beverages\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.nejm.org\/hiv-id-observations\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2011\/12\/beverages-300x1981.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"144\" height=\"95\" \/><\/a>I have a couple of thoughts about this breaking story.<\/p>\n<p>First, we all know that texting &#8212; without other confirmation &#8212; is now the preferred current medium for obtaining important health information. And you can see how the text reads like the work of a highly-respected public health official:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>for d next few days, do not drink any product from pepsi company like pepsi, tropicana juice, slice, 7up, coca cola, etc,,as a worker from the company has added his blood contaminated with HIV. watch NDtv &#8230;please 4ward this 2 every 1 u care about&#8230;..ok.
