Some other controversies? <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.wsj.com\/health\/2012\/07\/16\/approval-prompts-call-for-tougher-rules-on-hiv-drug\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sure!<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Dolutegravir + abacavir\/lamivudine bests TDF\/FTC\/EFV.<\/strong> All the info we have thus far is in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.viivhealthcare.com\/media-room\/press-releases\/2012-07-11.aspx?sc_lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">the press release<\/a>, but let the record show that this will be the first time a regimen is significantly better than TDF\/FTC\/EFV in its primary analysis. The results are driven by more discontinuations for adverse events in the EFV arm. Further details eagerly awaited.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Severe Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease outbreak in Asia.<\/strong> It&#8217;s apparently caused by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.who.int\/csr\/don\/2012_07_13\/en\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">enterovirus-71<\/a>, and to me it&#8217;s still perplexing &#8212; despite what <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/lifestyle\/health-wellness\/2012\/07\/15\/can-deadly-form-hand-foot-and-mouth-disease-hit\/5QjD0oSor6uqnjNtb0UAEN\/story.html\" target=\"_blank\">this brief article<\/a> in our local paper says.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Toxoplasmosis linked to suicide risk.<\/strong> I&#8217;m a big believer that many chronic infections are in fact benign &#8212; we live with microbes, remember? &#8212; but data linking CMV and <a href=\"http:\/\/archpsyc.jamanetwork.com\/article.aspx?articleid=1206779\" target=\"_blank\">now toxoplasmosis with adverse outcomes<\/a> are now out there (here, toxo associated with &#8220;self-directed violence&#8221; &#8212; haven&#8217;t heard that one before). And all ID docs know that it&#8217;s more appropriate to <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.nejm.org\/index.php\/who-gets-toxoplasmosis-in-the-united-states\/2009\/08\/14\/\" target=\"_blank\">blame your diet than your cat, right?<\/a>\u00a0Last, I&#8217;ll say it again &#8212; is there a better name for a scary Infectious Disease than\u00a0<strong><em>Toxoplasmosis gondii?<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 Yikes, just saying it makes me frightened.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bad tick-related illness season.<\/strong> That was a completely anecdotal impression, my apologies for no reference.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Meanwhile, today&#8217;s title is brought to you by the <a href=\"http:\/\/commtechlab.msu.edu\/sites\/dlc-me\/zoo\/microbes\/serratia.html\" target=\"_blank\">distinctive red color<\/a>\u00a0when <em>Serratia<\/em> grows in culture.<\/p>\n<p>And can anyone provide the &#8220;real&#8221; pronunciation?
