ends (Sept 1?\u00a0 Kids back at school?\u00a0 Labor Day?):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Will US Public Health officials <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2009\/08\/24\/health\/policy\/24circumcision.html?em\">recommend infant male circumcision<\/a> to prevent HIV?\u00a0 They might be considering such a move, but I suspect it will not be strongly promoted.\u00a0 After all, none of the studies demonstrating its efficacy have been done in developed countries, and the pattern of the US epidemic &#8212; predominantly gay men and women of infected male partners &#8212; excludes the very group circumcision has been shown to protect:\u00a0 circumcised heterosexual men.\u00a0 Look for lots of CDC-ese in these guidelines, with terms such as &#8220;consider&#8221; and &#8220;might choose&#8221; and &#8220;be offered.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Getting <em>lots <\/em>of questions from my patients about the H1N1 vaccine.\u00a0 Some decent interim answers <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/h1n1flu\/vaccination\/public\/vaccination_qa_pub.htm\">here<\/a>.\u00a0 When available?\u00a0 (Don&#8217;t know yet.)\u00a0 Who will get it?\u00a0 (The young, pregnant women, those at risk for severe flu)\u00a0 Will there be enough?\u00a0 (Maybe.)\u00a0 Will the regular flu vaccine still be needed?\u00a0 (Yes.)\u00a0 Will this season&#8217;s flu vaccination programs\/clinics\/sites be civilized affairs with minimal panic, anger, waiting lines, frustration?\u00a0 (I hope so, but the media will do their best to portray the situation otherwise.)<\/li>\n<li>Anyone see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.metacritic.com\/film\/titles\/underourskin\" target=\"_blank\">this movie<\/a> on chronic Lyme?\u00a0 Would love to hear your impressions.\u00a0 I have not seen it &#8212; but this will definitely be a Netflix choice when it a appears on DVD.\u00a0 (Note that I did not link to Netflix; I&#8217;m a big fan, but they are the most egregious purveyors of annoying pop-up ads in the universe right now.)<\/li>\n<li>How&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pcworld.com\/article\/170751\/jessica_biel_could_give_you_a_pc_virus.html\" target=\"_blank\">this<\/a> for a new definition of contagious?\u00a0 Be reassured:\u00a0 my little teaser photo has been thoroughly autoclaved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Enjoy the sunshine &#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A few ID\/HIV items to cover before summer &#8220;unofficially&#8221;
