{"id":8640,"date":"2018-03-04T13:10:18","date_gmt":"2018-03-04T18:10:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.nejm.org\/hiv-id-observations\/?p=8640"},"modified":"2018-03-04T14:23:22","modified_gmt":"2018-03-04T19:23:22","slug":"winner-of-id-cartoon-caption-contest-3-and-heres-4-just-in-time-for-croi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.nejm.org\/hiv-id-observations\/index.php\/winner-of-id-cartoon-caption-contest-3-and-heres-4-just-in-time-for-croi\/2018\/03\/04\/","title":{"rendered":"Winner of ID Cartoon Caption Contest #3, and Here&#8217;s #4 Just in Time for CROI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the challenging aspects of writing this blog is that there is so much interesting material in the ID\/HIV world that sometimes I forget to cover critical items.<\/p>\n<p>Example: the winner of the most recent <em>ID Cartoon Caption Contest<\/em>, which I&#8217;m embarrassed to admit, has been awaiting its announcement since <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nejm.org\/hiv-id-observations\/index.php\/holiday-distractions-dirty-pets-and-time-to-vote-for-your-favorite-cartoon-caption\/2016\/12\/18\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">late 2016.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The winner:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_8246\" style=\"width: 443px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nejm.org\/hiv-id-observations\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/11\/DocsIgnoringPatient.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8246\" class=\" wp-image-8246\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.nejm.org\/hiv-id-observations\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/11\/DocsIgnoringPatient.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"433\" height=\"314\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.nejm.org\/hiv-id-observations\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/11\/DocsIgnoringPatient.png 621w, https:\/\/blogs.nejm.org\/hiv-id-observations\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/11\/DocsIgnoringPatient-300x217.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 433px) 100vw, 433px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-8246\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;He was ready to go 6 days ago but I can\u2019t find \u2018discharge\u2019 on the menu.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It&#8217;s a great caption, trouncing the very strong competition of 3 other finalists by garnering 62% of the vote.<\/p>\n<p>But I confess we here at NEJM Journal Watch were torn between this one and\u00a0\u201cHave you tried switching him off and back on again?,\u201d which we thought would finish stronger than its 13% of the total vote.<\/p>\n<p>Concerned, we asked our\u00a0crack team of cybersecurity experts to investigate further, and we&#8217;re proud to announce there was no Russian meddling in the voting process. Hence, the winner is clear.<\/p>\n<p>So congratulations to Steve V., who submitted the top caption! As I&#8217;m sure he&#8217;s aware, he&#8217;s the winner of a lifetime free subscription to this blog, good in all 50 states and US Territories. If Steve V. is from another country, he can continue to access the blog provided he has a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate.<\/p>\n<p>Now, onto the next contest.
